Firewalls and Intrusion Detection Systems are essential components of a robust cyber security strategy. Firewalls act as a barrier between your internal network and external threats, filtering incoming and outgoing traffic based on predefined security rules. On the other hand, Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) are designed to monitor network traffic for suspicious activity and alert the administrator in case of a potential security breach.

Network firewalls are placed at the perimeter of the network to filter traffic between the internal and external network. Host-based firewalls, on the other hand, are installed on individual devices to monitor and control incoming and outgoing traffic.
